Two 13-year-old actors making waves in "Bugsy Malone Jr." are, unfortunately, not getting the splash they deserve. Jason Hopkins and Ayla Clark play the two leading characters in The Acting company's current production of "Bugsy Malone Jr." - Bugsy and aspiring singer Blousey Brown, respectively. Both Hopkins and Clark are talented teens who attend the Marysville Charter Academy of the Art. Hopkins was nominated last year by Sacramento Area Regional Theater Association for best child actor for his role as "the Artful Dodger" in The Acting Company's production of "Oliver." "I want to be a professional actor," Hopkins said when queried as to what he want's to be when he grows up. A teen glowing with youth, Clark nevertheless emanates a sense of authority and diffident poise beyond her earthly years, She did not disclosed her future hopes. However, her well-schooled voice and graceful dancing suggests the theater or some aspect of the entertainment industry may not far from her mind. Clark, as Blousey, is the only singer in "Bugsy" to get two solos, both show stoppers as Clark has rendered them in her cultured soprano voice. The very favorite Blousey number for some in the audience was "Ordinary Fool," which Clark delivers with slow, wondering, aching regret that many an adult in the audience could easily identify. "Blousey and Fizzy stole the show," one audience member opined at an informal cake-and-grape juice cast get-together to celebrate "Bugsy's opening night performance Friday.
